Road Rallying (12 Car)

October 4th, 2009

Twelve car road rallies are similar to full blown road rallies, but only 12 cars run.  This makes organisation of the events simpler.

Over recent years we have run our Goggin Rally in early December.  This is a name used for one of our road rally events from years ago and was resurrected by Bob Cotterell for this event.  The event, run in the lanes and hills around Church Stretton, was designed to get beginners into road rallying and to have the flavour of the old Motoring News Championship road rallies.  Bob had been the clerk of the course for our AGBO Rally when it was part of the Motoring News Championship.  The AGBO name continues with our single venue stage rally at Weston Park.

In 2006 a new 12 car rally appeared on our calendar.  The Grace Owen Rally is run on the roads around Abbots Bromley in Staffordshire in February. It has a different feel to it and is designed more for beginners with a range of plotting and navigation techniques.  Since then the event has been run around the lanes to the west of the River Severn around the village of Kinlet.
