AGBO (Alfred G.B.Owen) owner of Rubery Owen Darlaston and mentor, sponsor to the F1 BRM team in the late 1950`s & early 60`s
The AGBO started life as a road rally, organised by a few of the founding members of the club. It quickly grew in reputation and stature, gaining a place in the “Motoring News” Silver Star road rally championship – the very best road championship in the 60`s, 70`s.
The AGBO Rally changed to a stage rally in the early 80`s and was originally run at Wilbarston Airfield but quickly moved to Weston, It is now again one of the clubs premier events.
Run in late March at Weston Park, on the Shropshire/Staffordshire border, this popular single venue
stage rally is usually the opening round of the AWMMC Heart of England Stage Rally Championships.
The event is always very popular with competitors, the entry filling within weeks of publication of the regulations. Many competitors often use the event as a shakedown for their cars for the upcoming season. The event attracts many top Welsh teams as well as AWMMC clubmen from all around the Midlands region.
If you would like to become part of the organisational team for this very popular OMC event, please contact Anton or Clare Bird.
The AGBO Rally has received some rave reviews over the last five years from its competitors. This is down to the fact that a dedicated and experienced team has been assembled over the period to organise & run this prestigious event.
