Club Annual Awards 2020

H.J.Donaldson Trophy for services to marshalling nominated by the clubs chief marshal.
Winner, Paul Langford. Paul has bravely battled with a few serious health issues over the last couple of years, but they have never dampened his enthusiasm, ever present & frequently promotes OMC on Black Country Radio.

R.I.C.S Trophy for meritorious achievement. A team award for this year, and so well deserved. Our NHS club members, joint winners, Nicole Hubball, Ruth Langford & Ann Ward. I do not think any words of explanation are required.

The Colley Cup for first co driver on OMC AGBO 2020 Rally, Winner, Paul Rudge. Co Driving for Dean Baker (OMC) 13th o/all.

Intasprint U/17 Junior Cup. Winner, Archie Holt, second year on the trot, a real auto test talent for the future.

The Richard Southam Trophy for effort & endeavour. Winner, Derrick Wallbank. A real committee / club asset, just gets on with it, and has recently taken over as club competition secretary from long standing member Robert Cotterell, who has retired from club duties after some 40 years. Thank you, Bob.

The Bill Donaldson Cup for meritorious achievement in motor sport. Winners, James Nicholls & David Allman for an amazing result on the Roger Albert Clark Rally at the end of 2019. 9th O/All.

The Captains Cup . Our premier award for services to OMC over a long period.
Winners, Simon & Lynn Whittick. Long serving club members & mostly as a team, Lynn always in the thick of it…Simon mentions his first event officialdom for OMC was in 1979, A very well deserved and long overdue award. This award is for precisely what they have contributed over many years.

The David Owen Cup. Best OMC event for 2020. The Ernest Owen Car Trial. David Allman & Tim Beard mastered the OMC come back event post the first Covid lock down on  a wonderful sunny day in September. What a great event at a very spectacular venue, Catton Park.

All award winners will eventually receive cups & memento awards. When our crazy situation eventually gets back to normality It is the club’s intention to hold a reunion party at our meeting venue.

New Crimson Dynamo AutoSOLO – 1st February 2020

Crimson Dynamo AutoSOLO 2020

We will be running a new autoSolo on 1st February 2020at Seighford Airfield near Stafford. About 10 minutes from J14 of the M6.

We used the site many years ago and we thank Driveme.net for allowing us to use the site again. This will be a trial but if all goes well we’ll be looking at running further events later in 2020. At the moment we have to run the event on a Saturday due to local circumstances.

We are reviving the name “Crimson Dynamo”. The Crimson Dynamo” was, for many years, one of the premier autotests on the British Championship Calendar.

We plan to run the event in a similar way to the Donington Winter Series events. Drivers will have three attempts at a test in the morning then three attempts at the same test in the reverse direction in the afternoon. All drivers will also have to marshal. A rota of drives, marshalling and resting/preparation will be issued with the final instructions.

The cost will be £30 for Owen MC members and £35 for non members. It is unfortunate that we have had to put our entry fees up for 2020 but the governing body, Motorsport UK, have raised their fees considerably.

All competitors, whether a driver or a passenger will also need a Motorsport UK competition licence. The minimum licence requirement for this event is the new RS Clubman licence, This can be obtained for free from the Motorsport UK website. HERE

Slithering Santa AutoSOLO 2019 – enter here

27th December 2019 at Curborough

Again we are running our post Christmas AutoSOLO at Curborough sprint course. As usual, for this event, we plan to be running three tests three times each.

Get your dose of motor sport fun to blow off the Christmas cobwebs and still get back home for a late lunch. We usually finish around 1 pm.

If you can’t compete or don’t want to, then you could volunteer to marshal. We usually need two or three people on the start of each test to time cars and record the times. We also need about two people on each test to watch for cars hitting cones or taking the wrong direction.

If you can’t manage to enter online download the entry form below and send to the entries secretary along with your payment

Entries are now full. (9th December 2019.) You can go on a waiting list in case someone pulls out, but this could be a last minute thing. Just email the event secretary, details on SR’s, with your name, contact details and basic car details. We’ll get back to you with any updates.

Competitors will have three attempts at one test then three on the other. After a lunch break the same will happen in the afternoon with the tests being run in the opposite direction. The two best times for each attempt will count to the overall time.

The supplementary regulations are available below. There is an entry format the end of the regs. if you wish to use that but we much prefer you to use the online entry form and pay by PayPal, credit or debit card via the PayPal link. You don’t need a PayPal account to use a debit/credit card.
